Is there anything better than the occasional mocha latte? It’s like the adult version of a glass of chocolate milk. Though, for some of us a mocha latte can be a caffeine overload (yes, there’s caffeine in chocolate), so we did what we do best: turn an ordinary latte into a Dandy Blend latte.

Our recipe has all of the rich, delicious flavors of a mocha latte, but without the coffee. We sub the espresso shot with our delicious dandelion extract-based coffee alternative and you’d never know it based on the taste. Give it a try, hot or cold, and let us know what you think.

What is a Mocha Latte

The difference between a regular latte and a mocha latte recipe is that it’s made with chocolate. It can be made with chocolate sauce, cacao, or cocoa powder. The nice thing about making your own mocha latte at home is that you can adjust the ingredients to fit your liking. If you prefer an earthy flavor, a cacao powder with a little bit of honey is perfect. If you want more of a dessert drink, chocolate sauce would be the way to go. For a classic hot chocolate with a bit of caffeine, cocoa powder should be your chocolate of choice. In our Dandy Blend mocha latte recipe, we use cacao and maple syrup. You get a bit of earthiness, but it’s balanced out with the bright sweetness of the maple syrup.

How to Make a Mocha Latte Recipe with Dandy Blend

This mocha latte recipe couldn’t be easier! The most difficult part is choosing which mug you want to enjoy it out of.
Start by making your Dandy Blend “coffee” base. All you need is about 8 ounces of hot or cold water and one rounded teaspoon of Dandy Blend. Once this is mixed, add in cacao powder, maple syrup, and a pinch of sea salt. With a hand whisk, blend it all together. Pour in your milk of choice (we like almond or oat for this recipe), and give it a stir. You can use warm, frothed milk or add ice for a cold latte. If you’re feeling fancy, you can finish it off with a dollop of coconut whipped cream and chocolate shavings. Yum!
