There’s nothing easier or more satisfying than slathering some salted butter on toast and calling it a day, but sometimes you want something a little more elevated. Toast has become a cuisine all its own over the last few years and there’s so many ways to dress it up. We’ve been experimenting with some sweet toast recipes and savory toast recipes and it’s time we share our favorites. In our biased opinion, the best part is that we snuck Dandy Blend into all of them! Next time you’re craving a simple but delicious snack, make one of these, prepare a cup of Dandy Blend to have alongside it, and enjoy.

The Best Bread for Toast

Not all bread is created equal. In our opinion, there are two types of bread that make for the best dressed up toast. The first is a slow-fermented sourdough. It’s fluffy yet sturdy, and crunchy yet soft. It crisps up nicely, just enough to be sturdy enough to hold in one hand, but remains nice and soft on the inside. If you make your own sourdough or have a bakery nearby that sells loaves, that would be our choice. If you prefer or require a gluten-free option, finding one that has as little preservatives as possible has proven to be a great choice. We like AWG Bakery and Plantiful Kitchen—they both ship nationwide. They hold up well during the toasting process, and maintain their structure after toppings are added. At the end of the day, whatever bread you choose is going to be delicious!

How to Make Sweet and Savory Toast with Dandy Blend

Whether you’re in the mood for a savory toast recipe or a sweet toast recipe, we’ve got you covered! First we’ll walk through the savory option. Start by toasting your bread, then gather your ingredients. You’ll need hummus, Greek olives, feta, and sea salt. Start by mixing a pinch of Dandy Blend (or more depending on the serving size) into the hummus and give it a good stir. Then, spread a thick layer of the hummus mixture on to your toast, chop up and top some Greek olives on top, crumble as much feta as your heart desires, then sprinkle with sea salt. Yum!

If you’re craving something sweet, these sweet toast recipes are to die for. For the first option, you’ll need a chocolate hazelnut spread, strawberries, Dandy Blend, and sesame seeds. Pile as much chocolate spread as you want onto your toast, dice and add strawberries on top, then finish by sprinkling it with some sesame seeds, Dandy Blend, and sea salt.

For the second sweet toast recipe, you’ll need almond butter, honey, Dandy Blend, and cinnamon. Spread an even layer of almond butter onto the toast. With a hand whisk or mixer, whip the honey, Dandy Blend, and cinnamon together for a light, fluffy result. Drizzle on top, add some sea salt, and enjoy.
