WHAT IS FENG SHUI

Feng shui is an ancient Chinese practice that focuses on harmonizing individuals with their home, office, business, and other environments. The term translates to “wind-water” and is based on the idea that the natural flow of energy (chi) in a space can be transformed to promote health, wealth, and overall well-being.

Feng shui incorporates the use of colors, shapes, elements, and the orientation of furniture and objects in rooms. Elements considered include wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. If you ever feel like something is off in your home or office, it may be helpful to incorporate feng shui practices to cleanse your home in hopes of shifting the energy.

3 ENERGY CLEARING TIPS FROM FENG SHUI

Here are three of our favorite ways to cleanse your home based on feng shui.

1. Smudging

Smudging is one of the most popular cleansing practices, and helps clear energy from a room, area, or person with smoke. You’ve probably seen or smelled this in practice with the use of sage, palo santo, or rosemary. You can do so by burning your herb of choice, starting at the front door of your home or the door of the room you’re cleansing, and work in a clockwise direction. Be sure to have a door or window open to allow the smoke (and energy) to be released.

2. Salt Water Spray

If you’re looking for a room refresh that won’t necessarily leave a smell, a salt water spray is a great choice. Salt is a purifying element and can be used when you feel like you need a total reset. All you have to do is add about a teaspoon of sea salt to a spray bottle with filtered or distilled water and spray your room or home. If you do prefer a scent, you can add a few drops of essential oils, such as grapefruit, lavender, or eucalyptus. Simply spray the area or room of your home when you need a quick shift.

3. Citrus Spritz

When you want to make a positive, uplifting shift in your space, citrus is the go to medium. You can do this one of two ways. The first, more traditional way to do so is to peel an orange and add the rind to a bowl of filtered or distilled water. Let it soak for a few minutes, and then use your fingertips to flick the water around the room or home. Be sure to get corners. The second way you can use this method is to add citrus essential oils to a diffuser. This can be lemon, orange, grapefruit, or a combination of two or more.
