What is a Chocolate Shell?

A chocolate shell is a layer of chilled and hardened chocolate. Think of a chocolate-dipped ice cream cone. That’s one example of a chocolate shell. The fun doesn’t have to end there, though. You can add a chocolate shell to yogurt, oatmeal, protein shakes, and more. Chocolate shells make for a great healthy dessert option. It’s made with a combination of chocolate chips and a little coconut oil to support the melting process. Once liquid, you can pour the chocolate over your snack of choice and refrigerate (or flash freeze) until firm. Yum.

How to Make Overnight Oats with a Chocolate Shell

There are so many ways you can “accessorize” your overnight oats. Adding spices, fruit, protein powder, or whatever you’re in the mood for. Today, we’re sharing a basic (but delicious) recipe that you can adjust however you like. Everything goes with chocolate, in our opinion, especially Dandy Blend. Start by making your overnight oats. This includes oats, milk of choice, a pinch of salt, a little bit of honey or maple syrup, and a dash of cinnamon. Let that soak together while you make the chocolate shell. Melt chocolate, Dandy Blend, and coconut oil over a double boiler (or in the microwave in 20 second intervals). Once liquified, pour over the oats in an even layer. Let refrigerate overnight or for about 20 minutes. You can also put it in the freezer for 5-7 minutes for faster results. Whether you enjoy this recipe as a late-night healthy dessert or an on-the-go breakfast treat, you’re going to love it.
