What is Sweet Cold Cream?

Sweet cold cream is a thick, frosty topping often poured over coffee and tea drinks. It’s traditionally made with heavy cream and a sweetener, and can be whipped or shaken to achieve the desired consistency. For today’s recipe, we’re creating a non-dairy version using coconut cream. You can easily swap this out for a heavy cream or half-and-half if you prefer the dairy option.

How to Make Iced Dandy Blend with Sweet Cold Cream

The first thing you’ll want to do is make your Dandy Blend. You can either mix your Dandy Blend with room temperature water and pour over ice, or you can make it ahead of time and let it cool in the fridge.

Next, you’ll combine your homemade sweet cream ingredients in a jar. This includes the top, thicker layer from a can of full-fat coconut milk, milk of choice, vanilla extract, sea salt, and sweetener of choice. We like cashew or oat milk for this recipe as it’s thicker than other non-dairy options. Shake until well combined. You should achieve a thick, foamy consistency.

Grab your favorite cup or jar, add a generous scoop of ice, then pour in your Dandy Blend. Top it off with as much homemade sweet cream as you want and enjoy.

Recipe

Iced Dandy Blend with Sweet Cold Cream:

  • 1 teaspoon Dandy Blend
  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup top, thicker portion of a can of coconut milk, full-fat*
  • 2 tablespoon milk of choice (cashew and oat work well due to thickness)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon sweetener of choice (maple syrup or honey are our favorites for this recipe)
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt

*Be sure not to shake the can before opening, or the top layer will be more difficult to scoop out

Directions:

  1. Start by stirring your Dandy Blend and water together. You may immediately pour over ice or refrigerate until ready to use.
  2. Next, combine the top, thicker layer from a can of full-fat coconut milk, milk of choice, vanilla extract, sea salt, and sweetener of choice in a jar.
  3. Shake until well combined. You should achieve a thick, foamy consistency.
  4. Remove your Dandy Blend from the fridge, if cooling, then top it off with as much homemade sweet cream as you want.
