What is Chai?
Traditionally, chai (short for masala chai) is a spiced tea originating from India. It’s usually made by simmering black tea with a mixture of spices such as cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, cloves, and black pepper, then adding milk and sweetener to make a latte. While the classic version uses black tea (which contains caffeine), you can easily make a caffeine-free chai by swapping in our delicious herbal alternative, Dandy Blend.
With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a cozy, comforting caffeine-free chai at home—no tea bags or trips to the coffee shop required. Whether you’re winding down at night or looking for a gentle pick-me-up, this Dandy Blend chai is the perfect way to sip and savor the moment.
How to Make Caffeine-Free Chai with Dandy Blend
Making a delicious caffeine-free chai at home is easier than you think, and using Dandy Blend as your base not only keeps things caffeine-free but also adds a depth of flavor you’ll love. Dandy Blend’s blend of roasted dandelion root, chicory, barley, and rye extracts gives it a naturally bold, slightly sweet taste that complements warming chai spices beautifully.
First, gently simmer your spices for 5–10 minutes to fully extract the flavors. Strain with a nut milk bag or fine mesh sieve, then stir in Dandy Blend. If you’d like to enjoy it as a tea, it’s ready. If you want a chai latte, you can ration out about ½ cup and then add milk and sweetener. You can save the rest of the chai base in the fridge for a chilled chai or warm it up again when you’re ready for another batch.
